IRTG 2150 Final Symposium. March 27 – 28, 2025

We have all come a wonderful long way together, from a personal scientific contact to successful collaborations, many friendships and a large network of scientists, including young researchers and experienced scientists. The International Research Training Group (IRTG) 2150 on The Neuroscience of Modulating Aggression and Impulsivity in Psychopathology is coming to an end after 9 years of funding. But the story is longer and goes back to the start of this structured program of international doctoral training with the IRTG 1328 on Schizophrenia and Autism in 2006 – almost two decades. With this symposium, we look back on successful PhD defenses, outstanding scientifi c achievements, many interdisciplinary collaborations, personal success stories in academia and beyond, and international exchanges.

It is a pleasure to welcome you all again as part of one or another IRTG, as we celebrate the culmination of our collective efforts, innovative research and fruitful partnerships across borders. Over the past few years, we have engaged in rigorous academic inquiry and fostered a vibrant exchange of ideas and knowledge between our institutions. Together, we have overcome larger and smaller obstacles, such as pandemics, time constraints, recruitment problems, experimental challenges, and stressful evaluations.

This symposium not only marks an important milestone in our research endeavour, but also serves as a platform to showcase the personal stories and scientific achievements of our talented researchers. While we are sad to see this fruitful time come to an end, we are not only proudly looking back, but also looking forward. Our theme of the last few years, the neuropsychobiology of aggression, will be taken up by a multi-centre consortium in Germany, and hopefully our combined efforts will have an impact on this rather neglected fi eld in the future. Thank you for being part of these signifi cant times, of being part of the team, thank you for your support. We look forward to an engaging event fi lled with inspiring presentations and meaningful discussions.
